I feel so much closer to Willow knowing she eats vegan

💚 “Willow is a 15 month old JRT. She has fully transitioned onto vegan dog food now. She has mainly Green Crunch in her bowl and I home cook using your recipes. Her favourite one is the Terrific Tofu Traybake recipe. This is what she is tucking into in the photo.
💚 She also has a bag of Solo Vegetal which I use in puzzle games and take with us when we go out. She seems to like to do a bit of work for her food and the larger sized bite works well for that.
💚 Willow is an active little dog. She enjoys adventure trekking with her people, is a bit of a star at man trailing and is currently working through her IMDT partnership awards.

Why did we opt for a plant-based diet for Willow?

💚 I lost my last dog to kidney disease. I home cooked for her in the end but in hindsight it wasn’t balanced. She had various gastro-intestinal issues for years before that, as did my dog before her. I read lots about nutrition. I cycled through almost every brand of commercial dog food. I tried raw. I consulted with vet nutritionists.

When I got Willow it all started again. Eating food, going off food. Trying to make sense of the brands available. My friend is vegan and she has a Whippet who eats a plant-based diet. I was sceptical at first but as her dog absolutely glows I decided that I wanted to know more.

💚 So I bought the Plant-Based Nutrition Course and it absolutely makes sense to me that what matters most is getting a balance of good quality nutrients. It makes sense that for dogs as omnivores that it comes from a variety of sources. I was delighted to find commercial options available through Just be Kind website. And I am super happy to have a supplement that can help me provide that nutrition myself through home cooking.

As an unexpected bonus, it’s amazing how much closer we feel to our dogs knowing we can share and eat the same food and all live a kinder life. 🤍

💚 Willow is looking great and has been eating consistently since switching over. Sometimes she wants kibble over the cooked food and vice versa and I am learning the textures she likes and how important that is to her.
